The parents of a teenage Maryland who died earlier this year during a dental operation wisdom has sued and mouth surgery to medical malpractice anesthiologist.
Jenny Olenick, 17-year-old junior at Marriotts Ridge High School in Woodstock, MD., died in April from complications during an outpatient procedure performed at the 5 million Americans each year.
"It's so hard," Cathy Garger, Olenick's's mother, told ABCNews.com. "He is the only us."
The civil suit, filed in State courts, Howard Circuit claiming an oral surgeon, Dr. Coletti, and Domenick anesthiologist, Dr. Krista Michelle Isaacs, who was negligent and failed to resuscitate Olenick after dropping the level of oxygen in heart rate and blood.
Garger and Olenick's's father, John, refused to comment on pending cases, but a spokesman for the family said they hoped to highlight the risks of surgery and emergency training needs better between dentists and oral surgeons.
